STAGE 02 OF 6
Let’s review benefits for care in Mexico
For care in Tijuana, we review the product, provider, covered territory, and procedure terms with your plan.
CompanyAetna, MetLife, or your insurer
ProductThe full name of your plan
Provider and networkRules for your chosen dentist
TerritoryScheduled care in Mexico
Understand the company, product, and network
PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organization. This plan design includes a dentist network and may offer out-of-network benefits under its terms. To use it in Mexico, the policy must also permit scheduled care in the country with your chosen provider.
The company, product, network, and covered territory are separate details. PDP Plus, for example, is a MetLife network. Your full product name helps identify the terms that apply. If you have a different company, share its name so we can help review possible care and claims arrangements.
What we review before your care
The review considers scheduled care in Mexico, eligibility dates, deductible, remaining maximum, waiting periods, and procedure rules.
A predetermination estimates benefits; payment is determined when completed services are processed under the policy terms.
STAGE 03 OF 6
Understand your treatment and your share
Your clinical evaluation establishes the proposed care. We then explain the estimate, expected benefits, and your balance.
Your evaluation: $80 USD
Includes X-rays, photos, and a general cleaning. Using the evaluation and plan details, we review your proposed care and explain the amounts before treatment begins.
How my share of the cost is calculated
- Allowed amount
- The amount the plan recognizes for calculating a procedure. It can differ from the practice’s charge.
- Deductible
- The applicable amount you pay before certain benefits begin paying.
- Coinsurance or copay
- Your percentage of the allowed amount or the fixed amount defined for the service.
- Remaining maximum
- The balance of the limit the plan can pay during its benefit year.
Request an itemized breakdown: charge, estimated benefit, and patient share for each procedure. Your premium is the cost of keeping insurance in effect and is paid under your enrollment arrangement.
How direct billing and reimbursement work
Direct billing
With eligible Aetna and MetLife PPO plans, we coordinate billing to the insurer. Reviewing the case establishes whether this route applies and the amount owed by the patient.
Reimbursement
When your product requires this route, you pay the practice and submit a claim to the plan. We help explain the relevant documentation and receipts to keep.
Agree on who submits documents, who receives payment, and how a difference from the estimate would be handled. Payment arrangements and network participation are verified separately.

What to check for each treatment
Each procedure must qualify under the plan’s rules, including eligibility for care in Mexico. Use this table to prepare your questions.
| Treatment | What to check |
|---|---|
| Examination, cleaning, and X-rays | Allowed frequency, eligibility dates, and included imaging. |
| Fillings and restorations | Tooth, material, and allowed amount. |
| Root canals and crowns | Benefit classification, final restoration, and replacement frequency. |
| Implants | Surgery, abutment, and crown as separate components; exclusions and remaining maximum. |
| Orthodontics | Included benefit, age rules, lifetime maximum, and the plan’s payment schedule. |
Procedures with a cosmetic purpose require a specific review of policy exclusions. The clinical indication is established during your evaluation.
STAGE 04 OF 6
Organize payments while planning your trip
Ask our team about these two options and confirm the conditions of your chosen arrangement in writing.
Interest-free installments
Available when the bank, card, and current promotion allow them. Before the card is charged, confirm the term, currency, and conditions applicable to your transaction with our team.
Advance payment plan
You can agree on payments while organizing your trip. Once the agreed amount has been paid in full, we welcome you for your scheduled treatment. Request the schedule, total, and terms in writing.
How the advance payment arrangement works
- Agree on payments
- Complete the agreed amount
- Attend your scheduled care
These options can also help organize your share after insurance or treatment paid directly. Include travel and follow-up visits in your trip budget.
STAGE 05 OF 6
Arrive with your arrangements and documents ready
We agree on treatment dates and necessary follow-up visits. Our team explains which documents are needed and how to provide them.
View the documents for a coverage review
Your company and product name are enough for the first conversation. To complete the review, our team may request:
- Your plan card and the membership details required by the payer.
- The benefits summary or certificate and effective dates.
- Identification to match the insured person’s details.
- Previous imaging or estimates, if available, through the channel agreed with the practice.
Coordinate delivery of personal documents with our team. Your first message can focus on requesting a review and arranging your visit.
Check the points you have reviewed. This list helps you get organized; arrangements for your care are confirmed directly with our team.

STAGE 06 OF 6
After treatment, keep the process moving
Keep your receipts, review the insurer’s response, and arrange the clinical follow-up visits needed for your treatment.
Your follow-up after treatment
- Keep your receipts
- Review the plan’s response
- Ask about any differences
The explanation of benefits, or EOB, shows how the plan processed services. When you receive it, compare it with the invoice and ask the team about any differences.
If the plan requests more information, ask which documents can help complete the claim. Also arrange the clinical follow-up visits you need.

We explain expected benefits and your balance. You can ask about interest-free installments available through your bank and advance payments to prepare your visit.
How do payments before the trip work?
You agree on the amount and payment schedule while arranging your trip. Once the agreed payment has been completed, we welcome you for your scheduled treatment.
Can you help if I have a different insurer?
